JUGOSHIN RYU JUJUTSU: What does it mean?
This can be translated in the following ways.
Soft and hard spirit, mind, heart
Gentle and strong spirit, mind, heart
Gentle and hard spirit, mind, heart
Hetzler Sensei wanted to make sure that the JU (soft) and GO (Hard) aspect was in the name. He wanted to make it clear that his style of Jujutsu has the GO (Hard) aspect such as punches, strikes and kicks as well as the JU (soft) techniques of Jujutsu. Sensei wanted to be sure people knew that his Jujutsu is different from the various other styles of Jujutsu.
What is also unique about this styles name is that it shows respect to the masters who came before us. Each style that Hetzler Sensei received a black belt in is represented within the name of Jugoshin Ryu Jujutsu.
For example:
JU – Jujutsu/Jiujitsu
GO- Goju ryu Karate
SHI – Shito ryu Karate

Jugoshin Ryu Jujutsu is a system created by Brandon Hetzler Sensei after over 30 years of continuous training. Jugoshin Ryu Jujutsu draws from the latest innovations from Sport MMA along with the vast amount of traditional martial arts knowledge from the Samurai of Japan. It was never Hetzler Sensei's intention to systematize anything let alone “develop a new system.” In fact, he is still quite adamant about the fact that he hasn't discovered anything new, but rather only breathed life back into the ancient art of Jujutsu as practiced by the Samurai.

“Changes of form and victory are infinite. Form is a matter of using whatever is superior to win. It is impossible to use the best of one form to overcome all forms.
Therefore, the experts at warfare see the strengths of opponents, and thereby know their weaknesses"
“To be bound by traditional martial art style or styles is the way of the mindless, enslaved martial artist. But to be inspired by the traditional martial art and to achieve further heights is the way of genius.”
– Bruce Lee
