Danielle Battiato Sensei started doing jiu-jitsu while stationed at Travis Air Force Base, California in September 2006. She immediately fell in love and decided to channel all her energy into jiu-jitsu. After serving four years and one tour overseas, she was honorably discharged from the United States Air Force. After that she made the choice to stay in Sacramento, California to continue her jiu-jitsu training at Groundworks Jiu-Jitsu Sacramento.
Kron Gracie, the son of Master Rickson Gracie, promoted Sensei Battiato in 2008 to the rank of Blue Belt. In 2010, Sensei Brandon Hetzler, a Rickson Gracie black belt, promoted her to Purple Belt. In 2013, she was promoted to Brown Belt. On March 15, 2014, Sensei Brandon Hetzler promoted her to Black Belt in Gracie Jiu-Jitsu. She has also fought amateur MMA in the Pankration league where she holds an undefeated 3-0 record. Through her jiu-jitsu career she has competed in many tournaments in different countries.
Since beginning Gracie Jiu-Jitsu, she has attended almost every major seminar that Master Rickson Gracie has conducted in the United States. By doing this, it has furthered her knowledge and understanding of jiu-jitsu.
